Using role-playing as a teaching method has always seemed natural to me. While studying teaching, I was introduced to Steve Bell's "Storyline Method", to which I owe a lot. Role-playing is really only the next obvious step from storyline.
Unfortunately, a lot of teachers are still sceptical towards alternative methods, even if they are in fact more efficient than traditional ones. There's a credo in education which seems to manifest itself everywhere: No pain, no gain.
I don't hold to that. I think that education should be challenging, but also fun, inspirering... It's all a question of how it's presented.
